Innovation in Action: One Stroke at a Time

Picture this: you’re an athlete, a people person, an active community member…ready to soar after graduating from high school and a transition program. But then you quickly learn that the systems meant to support you don’t always make it easy to thrive. When job systems create “misplaced matches,” or when waiting for the right opportunity takes too long, sometimes innovation becomes the only path forward.

Young adult white man with short brown hair, wearing a blue YMCA T shirt, smiling directly at the camera in front of an indoor swimming pool. Clear blue water and lane dividers fill the background, with an American flag hanging high on the back wall.

Zach Worthy is a part-time adaptive swim instructor, athlete, Silver Congressional Award Medalist, Taekwondo black belt, and the Clark County 2025 NDEAM Spotlight on Innovation award recipient. A skilled networker and active community member, Zach is known for his creativity, determination, and commitment to living a full and meaningful life in Washington State.
