Washington State Transition Learning Community
Please join us for the first event in a new series, The Transition Learning Community!
For the last few years, Wise has hosted an online statewide Job Foundation Community of Practice in partnership with DDCS, with a consistent wide range of attendees, including DDCS Case Managers, DVR staff, educators, employment service providers, and others from across Washington State who gathered to learn from featured presenters and engage in dynamic conversations about how to improve transition services in their local communities. We have appreciated the enthusiasm and partnership with all of you, and we wanted to reach out and invite you to be part of our next exciting event which will launch on Tuesday, May 19th, 2026 at 3:00pm.
The Transition Learning Community will feature topics and speakers from across the state regardless of which type of transition program they are using. We hope this shift to offer information and resources about a wide range of transition-related topics and programs will expand our reach to include everyone who is interested in improving the experience of leaving high school and transition for students.
The series kickoff is for people who are working to improve transition services for students with disabilities as they prepare for life after high school. Our first session will introduce the Transition Learning Community, highlight shared goals, and explore how schools, agencies, providers, families, and communities may work together. We will feature a live presentation by Sam Blazina and Melinda Bocci from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Participants will learn about Pre‑ETS “in practice” as our featured presentation will include examples from across Washington State of how Pre-ETS is being offered in different communities. There will also be time to connect, ask questions, and share ideas to build relationships and improve our understanding of the offerings available through the Pre-ETS program around Washington State.
Please join us and stay tuned for information about future sessions in this series.
