Clark County Families & Educators Training Series
This series provides information and resources to families preparing for their students to transition from school to adult life. This is a collaborative series designed and executed by the Clark County Developmental Disabilities Program, Clark County Parent Coalition (PEACE), Vancouver, Camas, and Evergreen School Districts and ESD 112.
This series runs from October to April each year. Registration for the 2024-2024 series is available below.
- How to navigate the adult service system
- How to build a whole life following the exit from school
- Understanding your social security benefits and work incentives
- Guardianship, ABLE Accounts and Supported Decision Making
- Guiding your employment services
The information in the sessions are targeted for families and educators, although other community members who are interested in transition are welcome. In addition to the presentation, attendees have the opportunity to network with the presenters and other community members who have attended each session.
Spanish and ASL interpreters are provided for all sessions in this series.

Orientation
October 15, 2024
This orientation session marks the beginning of a comprehensive training series designed to equip educators and families with essential information and resources to support students transitioning from school to adult life. During this session, participants will receive an overview of what to expect in the remaining sessions and learn how to access available resources.
Adult Life, What Can it Look Like - Transition Panel
November 19, 2024
Join us for a panel presentation where individuals will share their personal stories and experiences, giving insights into what adult life can look like. This event will highlight diverse paths and choices as people discuss how they navigate adulthood in unique and meaningful ways.
Navigating the Adult System
January 21, 2025
Please join our first session of 2025: Navigating the Adult System. This in-person session will help families, educators and students understand and work toward successful connection to local resources available for students. There will be information about why, how and when to connect with these local services to ensure a successful transition from school to adult life.
Introduction to SSI & Benefits Planning
February 18, 2025
Join us for a session with representatives from several community resources to discuss access to social security income and benefits. They will provide general support and ideas about how to begin navigating and understanding SSI and benefit planning resources.
Guardianship, ABLE, & Supported Decision Making
March 18, 2025
This session is designed to help give families and educators the most current information available about guardianship, trusts and new information about ABLE Accounts. Attend this session to get information about important considerations to make when thinking about and planning for a safe and happy future for the whole family.
